Instructions to Authors

The JIAAP is a referred and indexed Journal. Please read the information below before submission.

Types of Articles and Word limits
(including references but excluding Title page and Abstract)

(a) Articles based on empirical data: Maximum word limit 5000.
(b) Theoretical or Review Articles and those involving qualitative method : Maximum word limit 7000.
(c) Brief reports: Maximum word limit 2000.
(d) Letter to the Editor: Maximum word limit 800.

The Review Process

The JIAAP has a multi-tier review process. All articles are evaluated at different levels on several dimensions, such as originality of the work, scientific argument, language, adherence to APA format, references, and overall suitability of the article for the Journal. In case of review articles, the significance, comprehensiveness , and potential for application are assessed.

The Editor will communicate the decision in due time. The paper may be accepted as it is, need to be revised (major or minor revision), or considered as not acceptable. The editor’s decision is binding. At the same time, the authors may withdraw the manuscript if they do not to find the suggested revisions acceptable.

Plagiarism is treated as an offense. So please check your paper carefully for possible plagiarism. You may use any free plagiarism checker available at the internet before submitting the paper.

Forwarding Letter

Each submitted article must be accompanied with a forwarding letter addressed to the Editor, JIAAP. It should state clearly the title of the article, and declaration that (a) the research work is original and (b) it has not been submitted to any other journal or edited book for consideration of publication.

Guidelines for Manuscript preparation

The manuscript should be typed in double spacing in Times New Roman, Font size 12 OR Arial, Font size 11. Authors should prepare manuscripts strictly according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.). Formatting instructions and instructions on the preparation of tables, figures, references, metrics, and abstracts appear in the Manual.

The manuscript should include a separate title page with the name of the author(s) and affiliations and the running head. It should also contain a separate page for abstract with keywords.

Graphic files are welcome if supplied as Tiff. High-quality printouts are needed for all figures in case of Submission mode 3. The minimum line weight for line art is 0.5 point for optimal printing. When possible, please place symbol legends below the figure instead of to the side.

Major Components of an article

Page 1: Title Page

It should be short and accurate, no need to prefix “A study of”. Please avoid abbreviations in the title. Also please provide a short title of 2/3 words for use as running head of paper. Authors’ names and institutional affiliations, email addresses, and running head should be given with title on a separate page only. Address, qualification, etc. may be provided at the end of paper.

Page 2: Abstract with Key words

Abstract should not exceed 250 words. Please mention essential background information, objectives, methods, analysis and findings in brief. Three to five keywords may be mentioned.

Page 3 onward: Main text

Introduction: (Please do not give ‘Introduction’ as heading). Introductory part should be precise and pertain to the specific area of study covering only relevant research. Please avoid use of references more than 15 years old unless they are absolutely essential. In providing references within text, please follow the current APA style.

Objectives / Hypotheses: These may be made a separate heading, or included in the Introduction.

Method: (NOT methodology): For empirical papers, this should cover Sample, Tools/Measures, Ethical concern, Procedure etc. For review papers, this should include scope of review, sources of articles, time frame, mode of analysis etc.

Results: Please provide relevant information only. Results presented in one form (eg., Tables) should not appear again in other forms like text and graphs. Maximum 4 tables may be given. Use Arabic numerals for table and figure numbers. Tables and figures may be given within text in appropriate place, or presented separately. Please indicate in the text where tables/figures should appear.

Discussion: Major findings should be discussed in the light of existing theory and relevant past works. In some situations, results may be combined with discussion to avoid repetition. Discussion should also point out what is unique achievement of the research.

Conclusion: Conclusions based on the findings may be stated clearly. In the concluding section, please comment on application and limitations of the study, if any.

References: Citations in the text and References must correspond to each other; please avoid old and unnecessary references. Give full journal titles. Please download the APA 6th edition style sheet before finalizing the references.

Acknowledgement: To be given at the end of the paper.

Before submission, please ensure:

  • Forwarding Letter
  • Separate title page with Abstract with keywords
  • Text files in a standard word-processing format
  • APA style in manuscript preparation
  • Checking for plagiarism report with standard tools like Turnitin
  • Graphics, if any, of high-resolution. Preferred formats are either TIFF or EPS.
  • Captions for all Tables and Figures

Permissions

Authors are required to obtain and provide to the editor on final acceptance all necessary permissions to reproduce any copyrighted work, including, for example, test instruments and other test materials or portions thereof.

Publication policy

JIAAP policy prohibits an author from submitting the same manuscript for concurrent consideration of other publications. As this journal is a national journal that publishes original materials, JIAAP policy prohibits publication of any manuscript that has already been published in whole or in substantial part elsewhere. Authors will be required to state in writing that the submitted paper is an original work not submitted elsewhere, and that they have complied with ethical standards in the treatment of their sample, human or animal, and describe the details of treatment.
Permission for reproduction of an article or any part should be addressed to the editor.
